Monday Night Grandma Blogging
"BITCH! How many of the assholes are there!!? ....Dammit!!"
After realizing the "visions" are sort of guides as to what you supposed to do, Grandma has started to get the hang of Prince of Persia, but she's got a way to go. More on this later...
Getting a nice mic tommorow, audio coming straight away.

it is too bad she doesn't like MMOs, i would love to see her on City of Heroes!

I do want to get her started on MMO's on the PC, actually. She did play FFXI for awhile, and she thought it was okay, but I guess she... how do I put it... When Aeris dies in Final Fantasy VII, she had a really bad day. She had a moment, you know? It was one of those times you see her in the kitchen sulking over some coffee and you ask her what was wrong and she'd respond "Nothing. Nothing's wrong, just leave me alone right now..." Opposingly, when she finally defeated Ruby Weapon she was bouncing off the walls like she just shot the winning goal against Brazil in some soccer match, the outcome of which would solve all world conflict. That was a good day. I guess she just wasn't feeling it online. I'll convince her it's worth another shot.
Although should we go with WoW, City of Heroes, or the brand-spankin new City of Villians, knowing her character?

Go with City of Villians. CoH is one of the easiest online games to get into, and she would be a great Grandma of Death.
Man, I'm jealous of your grandma. Does she play Halo 2?
If you want to hear her real pissed off, buy her Vexx. That's one of the hardest games ever, damn, I hated it. :D

I'm the only mom I know that plays video games. Its nice to have a role model for my later years.
I loved the game Primal.

Yeah, Prince of Persia is pretty straight forward once you get the hang of it. I found the second one to be more of a challenge.
How about Silent Hill?

I can personally vouch for WoW and think she'd enjoy it, but City of Villians sounds pretty awesome too. Did she ever play Dark Cloud for PS2? It's a fun and unique RPG, I reckon she could get into it.

Get her Conker live and reloaded for X-Box, she will LOVE the humour in that.

Judging from the dialog and attitude, Gramma would love Sid Meier's Pirates. Violence, plundering, big ass cannons.

Let's put it this way.
I found out through Livejournal.
Your grandmother is now an instant celebrity, and for me, she is on par in my memory with maddox (the best damn page in the universe), the darth side (a blogspot production that ended with the release of Episode III) and i harth darth (a livejournal comic about a really small darth vader guy).
More power to you and your grandmother. Let it be known that I shall toast to her health and good gaming fortune on her birthday, so please let us know when that is. :)
Also, I suggest getting her Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga (2 part game, second part comes out in a few months) and letting her find her way to defeating the most powerfully annoying boss ever made (second playthrough only). OH! Or getting her a dynasty warriors game. TOns of characters and unlockables to keep her busy.

City of Villians is going to introduce some somewhat more complicated crap to the CoH universe. NOT that Grandma can't handle it, but if you are looking to get her hooked on something, I'd start with CoH. There is a free trial going on at the moment I think. Lemme see if I can find some info. I think she would get a kick out of kicking endless badguy ass.

Has she played any of the Grand Theft Auto Series yet?

Does your grandma enjoy tactical strategy games? If so, apparently Disgaea is the best one, and has a huge amount of replay value. Like, hundreds and hundreds of hours of replay value. It would be a good bargain for Grandma's gaming dollar.
If I still had a grandma, I would want her to be as cool as your grandma.

Has she tried the Time Splitters series yet? (Make sure she knows that there is no jump button!)

Metal Gear Solid!

If you can find it, and she hasn't played it yet, Valkyrie Profile. The best part will be watching her make fun of the voice acting.

I Second God of War... what an incredible game, and if she enjoyed Devil May Cry, it's right up her alley!
Grandma ROCKS!

If she liked the Silent Hills and square games for deeper stories she might dig on things like Psychonauts. It's more action packed then an adventure game, but with the same level of story and character development. Very satisfying once you master the controls. Plus you can set things on fire with your mind; awesome.

Ack, additoinally; Beyond Good and Evil, if she so digs Ubisoft

I think she sjould getTals of Symphonia for Gamecube.
That game is Palayers choice now, cheap, and like 60-80 hours long

Just to let you know, I found this from a link on my.yahoo.com.
I like your grandma a lot. she reminds me of me when I play. I always swear at the game and call it a fucking cheating piece of plastic shit!!! fucking rubberband AI! *hits pause* anyways...
My top five games for Grandma to play are:
Sled Storm (PS2): She'll swear at that like you won't believe. I know I do.
Metal Gear Solid 2: I made it to the Strut L Oil Bridge from the beginning of the Tanker episode without saving once.
GTA: San Andreas: You mentioned her playing this once. Has she beat it yet? I beat main story mode in 67:28.
Need For Speed Underground 2: Grandma drifting. Need I say more?
Gran Turismo 4: Only try this one if she likes racing games.
