Old Grandma Hardcore

This blog is the chronicle of my experiences with Grandma, the video-game playing queen of her age-bracket and weight class. She will beat any PS2, XBox, GameCube, etc., console game put in front of her, just like she always has. These are her stories. She is absolutely real. She lives in Cleveland.

YAY! Great to see you, Grandma! Thanks for the update. It's hard trying to schedule time when you've got two people busy/sick/living life, really, trying to coordinate stuff. I also hear you on the med front...adjusting and balancing medications SUCKS!!!

Best of health and luck to you!

I'm releived to see you up and kickin' as well. I know it's hard for you and Tim to find time to be together. Life IS busy. But sometimes you gotta make time.

As for relieving boredom, I'm not usually into RPG's, I LOVE Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii! But I think it's safe to say that we enjoy hearing updates on you and Tim and the fam!! As your extended family, we worry when we don't hear from grandma in 3 or 4 weeks. Give us your views on politics, the "good ole days", global warming, kids nowadays...whatever is on your mind! If your bored with your games (and we all get there), take a break and go back later!

    :o) Love ya, grandma...game on!

Grandma, you truly are an inspiration! When I started keep up with your blog earlier last year, it reminded me how fun (and dare I say frustrating) video games really are. It's good to hear from you again! Game on!

If you're bored, I would strongly suggest Chains of Olympus for the PSP, and Lost Odyssey for the 360; you would love Lost Odyssey, the most epic RPG to come around in a long time. I went through a dry spell myself last month, after Devil May Cry 4, and am now waiting for Crisis Core and GTA IV.

Hi Grandma! Good to hear from you!

I've been playing God of War Chains of Olympus for the PSP and it's a ton of fun!

I've also been playing Uncharted Drake's Fortune on the PS3 & that's a ton of fun as well!

If you haven't tried them, check them out!

I'm glad to hear that you are still here and proud of you for posting a video on your own ^_^

Super Smash Bros. Brawl just came out on the Wii, awesome game though the controls are a bit laggy. Best of all you can play it with a Gamecube controller :)

  • At 10:32 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I saw the video ! I like your idea of the V-Cast You should try out God Of War : Chains Of Olympus its fun but pretty short . For the Wii Super Smash Bros Brawl ! Those games are so fun !

Grandma, you're an inspiration for people who like playing games and also for the few of us who study gaming-related subjects.

    Game on Grandma!!!

You're the coolest of the cool grandma. I'm glad you're doing fine healthwise and game wise.

Re:what to blog, just ask Tim for the pass information for the blog and let er rip...hehe. Write a small something everyday. Your fans will love it.

Anytime I'm between games I go back to Oblivion. I think you'll like Mario Galaxy, very amazing game. Also, Super Smash Brothers which just came out is like a 3D version of the old side scrollers, with some really creative character team ups and bizarro settings.

Take Care, and a hearty Game On to you too.

Awwww... you're the best, Grandma, you and Tim & co. ::grin:: ::hug:: I hope you're doing well and I'm overjoyed to see a video from you!

As for game suggestions... hm. I'm going through Super Smash Bros. Brawl and enjoying just monkeying around with stuff (Snake is a ton of fun to play - and they have a stage builder! GLEE!) - and the special edition of Persona 3 is coming out in April, and I CANNOT recommend that game enough! So very awesome. Aside from that... hm. Maybe Folklore? I saw it on the company PS3 and the art style really caught my eye - don't know how awesome the game itself is, so I'd be wary there... but man, it looks interesting.

Anyhow - hope you & the family are doing well, and as always I love seeing new posts from you guys. Hope you like the April issue of Game Informer ::wink:: Many hugs, take care, be well, and GAME ON!

    -A!

Hi Grandma glad to see your video! Please make more!

Someone else above mentioned Lost Odyssey and I would agree with that.

As for dry spells when you have nothing to post, I would love to hear just individual game reviews from you. Even classic games. It would be interesting to see you perspective on different games and what you see in things maybe I don't.

    Game on!

A dry spell huh. Perfect time to try World of Warcraft. You love RPG's right? Well what have you got to lose? What else are you doing?
Hope to see you in Azeroth.

  • At 9:15 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I second that thought. Try out WoW. I'm a casual player, just a couple of times a week, in a real causual guild. We're all older gamers who're just having fun exploring and running around the crazy world of Azeroth with friends. Come to Uther and join the Horde. Game on Grandma!

GREAT to hear directly from Grandma! I really like this format, just you and the camera. This was possibly the best video from you yet and I've been with you since the first week Tim started the blog.

Hang in there re: the health system. It totally sucks and some of the doctors out there, well, ya gotta wonder (mine once again wrote a scrip t wrong for me, one he's given me for two years, every month). I hope they get your meds straightened out soon.

    Keep on gamin'!

Like I said earlier Granny, I LOVE the idea of you doing Vcasts from time to time whenever Tim is busy or whenever you don't have any special games going on to film. Also, it would be cool to have one of the Vcasts having you answering questions from your extended family, as you like to call us. :D

    Love you Granny!

    GAME ON!

Hey Grandma, I have an idea. Why not try one of the Medal of Honor games for the Wii? or maybe Rockband for Xbox360? That would be pretty cool.
